Today I learned something that, to me at least, is new, different and truly exciting.
Health, again!
For the last few weeks my entire body has had severe muscle cramps for no apparent reason. Upper, lower, front and back, I got severe muscle cramps everywhere at any time of day or night. A couple days ago my inside right thigh muscle locked up in a solid lump for maybe five minutes. PAINFUL! After I finally got it to relax it was sore for a day.
Julie called for a doctor's appointment but my own physician was not available. I had to settle for a lady doctor whom I had never met. HOW EXCITING, HUH? (Once you get near 80 years of age it doesn't take much to be exciting).
She was a pleasant lady who seemed quite competent as she thoroughly examined me. She then withdrew some blood and said she would contact me today with the results. Rebecca, the nurse called this afternoon.
My magnesium is normal. I have no infection. My kidney function is normal. My blood sugar was in the safe zone. My blood pressure had been 135/74--not bad for an old codger like me.
Then she told me the problem.
She said YOU ARE SERIOUSLY, SERIOUSLY DEHYDRATED, drink a lot of water.

For days my entire body constantly felt like it was going to cramp up. After the drink, that feeling relaxed. I've drank the stuff all day today and definitely feel better.
WHO KNEW? Probably everyone in the world but me. I have been and like to think that I still am an athelete. I should have known.
I know I don't drink water. I don't like it. I try to drink some with each meal but thats about it. That is about to change.
Just so "another MEDICAL blog" is not too boring, I'll share a MEDICAL email I received from an 80 year old, dare I say lady, in California today.

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THIS AND I CERTAINLY DON'T KNOW ABOUT MAUDE!

Take care and drink a lot of water.

When will the chicken blood be available to the general public? Has the FDA approved it yet? haha! Thanks for making me laugh. I needed that.
On a more serious note: I am glad to see you are taking the dehydration issue seriously. My sister just went through a major health scare due to that very thing. She became unresponsive, was taken to the ER by ambulance, and was in the hospital several days. Her blood pressure was way too low and her kidneys shut down. Why? Dehydration due to over prescribed diuretics by her doctor. We almost lost her. The good news: She's home and doing so much better!
All that to say this, I'm glad you caught yours in time, Mister!
P.S. Yes, the red Harley is adorable.
