IS THIS A GREAT COUNTRY OR WHAT? Whats On Your Menu For Tonight?

IS THIS A GREAT COUNTRY OR WHAT?

This grocery receipt from Angeli's County Market was found in their parking lot.  Paid for with a "Food Stamp Tender" were eight lobsters, two porterhouse steaks and five 24-can cases of Mountain Dew.
THEY ATE LOBSTER, YOU PAID THE BILL!!!
WHAT'S ON YOUR DINNER TABLE TONIGHT?

My lovely wife, Julie, brought home two bowl's of Chipotle chicken and salad.  Cost?  About $11.00 and I assure you she paid cash, which she earned working a stressful job.  Last night it was green beans and a salad from my own garden.

Last year food stamps cost tax paying Americans $68 Billion.  Retired for 20 years, I am still a taxpayer.  I do not begrudge one "needy" family a single food stamp.  The problem being, our country has developed a culture of "we're needy - take care of us" citizens.

FOOD STAMPS ARE A $68 BILLION BUSINESS
One Out Of Three In Alabama Gets Food Stamps
Frequently I pass a minority neighborhood.  They are not "bad" people.  When I was recovering from a ruptured disc a few years ago and struggled by their homes on the way to the therapy pool, they were very solicitious of my condition.  It has been years
now, but they still inquire of my health from time-to-time.

I know the community is made up of single parent families.  Although I see some of them going to work, I'd bet that the vast majority of them are on welfare and getting food stamps.  Yet, there are always several new, like in brand new, cars parked at their homes.  I noticed another new one this week.
FOOD STAMPS UP 70% IN LAST FOUR YEARS

Mind  you, it is not just minorities on government dole.  Over the years I have known many, including distant family members, doing the same thing, high school drop outs, single moms, welfare and food stamps.

When my oldest brother needed a power scooter, he did not get one because of the cost.  He and his wife had worked all their lives, had insurance, owned their home, owned rental property and a small business.

Henry always resented that his two nieces who rarely, if ever worked, did not go to school, received welfare and food stamps all their lives AND full medical coverage, and each had a free power scooter.  Overweight in the extreme, they had regular home care, including meals and cleaning, in their government assisted-living condo, I might add.

NO, IT IS NOT JUST MINORITIES!

Somehow, our country must get back to having the citizens being responsible for their own welfare.  We must stop rewarding under achievement.  Drop out of school, have a child out of wedlock, expect to live a life equal to your lack of achievement.

IT IS MUCH MORE THAN JUST FRAUD!
Fraud exists.  There are people using food stamps to buy lobster and steaks but the problem is not just fraud or misuse.  The government, Obama or otherwise, does not have control--it has just became known that $40.3 million had been paid to deceased individuals, even though their deaths were recorded by the social security agency.

I THINK WE NEED A COMPLETE CHANGE IN GOVERNMENT LEADERS, LEADERS WHO WILL LEAD, WHO WILL STAND UP FOR THE CONSTITUTION.

THIS BLOG IS SORT OF WANDERING, I KNOW!

Please be reminded that "change" is needed.  REAL CHANGE!  When the question is asked "What happens to the young man who becomes terrible ill, after deciding not to buy insurance, we need leaders who can say, "he is a charity case".

When potential leaders smirk about border defense and cut deals for illegal aliens, we need to hold them accountable.  We need to look beyond charisma or smooth talk.

WE AMERICANS FACE A VERY IMPORTANT DECISION IN THE MONTHS TO COME.

At the very least, do your best to be well informed and not just misled by a biased media.

And, no small thing, HOPE FOR THE BEST BUT PREPARE FOR THE WORSE.  Be prepared!

There is a lot I don't know but I know for sure, our country cannot continue on the same path and not pay the price for it's foolishness.

May God bless you and yours!

God Bless the USA
