WAX ON WAX OFF: Therapeutic!

Remember in the "KARATA KID", wax on wax off?  That was my day today.  I put two coats of wax on the Lincoln Town Car in preparation to our drive to Myrtle Beach this coming Friday.  Mr. Miyagi was right, it was very therapeudic!

Eight months into an 18 month recovery from a total replacement of my left hip, I'm still trying to get back into shape from the year of immobility with the bad hip.  I spent a very enjoyable, but physically challenging, afternoon waxing the car.

I did have help. Donna, our "Gal Friday", who does all things with gusto and a smile, washed and waxed the lower parts of the car.  I still have problems bending over.  Julie had already cleaned the upholstery and carpet.  As I put on the second coat of wax, Donna put a shine on all the windows and and dash.  Looks great, smells great too!

Julie gave me a liquid wax and a spray finish wax for the job.  I didn't care for that at all.  It was easy to put on but nearly impossible to buff out all the streaks.  I spent an hour at least, just on the hood.  Still could see some streaking.  When Julie came home we went to Kmart and bought a can of hard Turtle Wax.

When the sun gets up tomorrow morning, I'll finish the job with at least two more coats of hard wax.  Here's hoping it doesn't rain.  Today was a perfect, clear, cool day.  If it is nasty, I'll just wax the car in the garage.  Won't be as enjoyable, but it will work.

There is just something about a motor trip in a beautiful, luxury automobile.  Our Lincoln Town Car fits the bill.  It will provide transportation for us and our guests for three weeks of fun and games at the beach.  It will be loaded down going to and coming from the beach.

MY SPECIAL BLESSING FOR TODAY?

GAS PRICES ARE FALLING!

WHY DO I THINK THIS BLOG IS OF EVEN REMOTE INTEREST TO YOU READERS?

Over and beyond a belief that at least some of you are interested in my day-to-day life, probably the prime reason is because I have an experience few, if any, of you have had.  I have lived for 80 years!  And, I haven't just existed for 80 years, I have lived!

St. John 10:10 tells us that Jesus came that we might enjoy life to the full.  I try hard not to let his coming be in vain.

I WANT TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO KEEP ON KEEPING ON!  LIFE, IF YOU WILL LET IT, JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER.

Whether it is a month in a beach front pent house suite with family or friends for a month long party or a Romantic Dinner for a few friends, LIFE IS EXCITING AT AGE 80!  The secret?  It is not money!!!  It is planning long term and putting your plans into action.  WHAT I DO ANYONE CAN DO.

LIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE FULL!

Take time out to smell the roses in life!

God Bless you and yours

GOD BLESS AMERICA

(Follow up:  Beautiful day, put on two more coats of wax, took 7 hours)

Dad, I love today's blog post. I'm beginning to think that John 10:10 is your favorite Bible verse. It sure fits your life! And I LOVE the new look to your blog. Nicely done! I love the font size, plenty of white space and the new background colors. The 3-column format is functional too! Thanks for all the work you put into your blog! Love, Mark
