FIELDCREST: A Trip Down Memory Lane For The Dining Group

FIELDCREST LODGE AND INN
A visit to Fieldcrest Inn and Suites of North Canton, Ohio is truly a visit back in time.  In the beautiful estate that was the Hoover Farm and Estate, built by Herbert William Hoover in 1935.  The magnate of the Hoover sweeper, intertained statesmen, business executives, presidents, foreign dignaitaries and other distinguished guests.

A FARM BUILT WITHOUT A THOUGHT OF COST
Fieldcrest's historical integrity remains intact with it's wood burning fireplace and stone terraces.  The barn was a work of art.  How wonderful it would have been to have seen this barn when it was alive with animals, people and farm implements.

SIGN DIRECTING FOLKS TO DINING LODGE
The hosts for this dining adventure of the Out For Dinner With Friends was Bill and Carla Ludwig.  This was the last dinner for the year.  This group of six couples was formed in 2005.  We start the year off with a progressive dinner going from home-to-home.  At the progressive dinner a drawing is held to determine which couple will choose the restaurant for a specific month.   Last January, Bill and Carla got November.  It is now history!

THE OUT WITH FRIENDS FOR DINNER DINING GROUP
The host couple is to actually eat in the restaurant they choose.  If they think it is appropiate, they will make reservations and mail menus to the group.  The chosen restaurant is to be unusual, excellent food, and moderately priced.  Bill and Carla get the prize for this great place.  Even the price was great, $17.00 for the meal and drink.

THE BREAKFAST SERVING STATION

It was a buffet service with perhaps a dozen different serving stations.  Frog legs or sausage gravy with biscuits, they had it.  Steak, sure!  What kind?  Pasta?  Made to order as you watched.  Frankly, I don't know how the people made a profit but I'm not complaining.

DO YOU BELONG TO A DINING GROUP?  If you don't, you should give it a thought.  It costs nothing and, even after the many years, it is one of the highlights of our life.  I am the oldest member and two couples are the age of my children, a good blend.
