CAVE DWELLERS AND THE END OF TIME: Thought Provoking!

WISDOM   WISDOM   WISDOM   WISDOM   WISDOM   WISDOM   WISDOM   WISDOM   WISDOM   WISDOM

YOUR PERSONAL GPS
You might find your destination in life better if you remember
Life's a journey and not a destination

YOU CAN'T CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF THE WIND
BUT YOU CAN ADJUST YOUR SAILS

An article in National Geographic about the last of the cave dwellers reminded me of a convesation I had recently with my oldest son, Mark, a minister.  Communication today is so advanced, seemingly to every corner of the earth.  In Mathew 24, as well as Mark 13 and Luke 21, we read that the end of time will come when the gospel is preached to all the nations.  I commented that my simple blog is read in 83 countries around the world.  The National Geographic article told about modern day Cave Dwellers in Papua, New Guinea.

They were exposed to the gospel in 1951.  I know.  I was there.

In a few weeks I am planning on a cross country camping trip, a trip of maybe 6,000 miles.  This isn't even a drop in the bucket when compared to Papua, New Guinea.    It is on the other side of the world and down under, near Australia.  In 1951, the fleet tug on which I served, the USS YUMA ATF94, transported engineers and their equipment to this small part of the world, so far away.

It was the only place in the broad Pacific where the ship was met with large numbers of natives in canoes wanting to trade fruit and small hand craft for anything, a bar of soap, a worn out shoe, anything.  IT WAS THE ONLY PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN WHERE MONEY MEANT NOTHING.  That's another blog.  In addition to the tanks and other signs of World War II in the roadless jungle, there was a Christian Mission.

Following Jesus' Olivet Discourse, Jesus speaking on the Mount of Olives, gave a number of signs of when the end of the age would appear.  Mark 13:10 says "And, the gospel must first be preached to all the nations".  There will be global evangelism.  THERE IS!  I am by no stretch of the imagination a theologian, but you will have to admit, this is thought provoking.  Is it a true prophesy?  Consider the following.

The deciples were admiring the permanence, solidity and security of Herod's Temple, the most beautiful building of the time.  Some of the stones measured 37' long x 18' wide x 12' high, huge considering that this was before modern construction methods.  Solomon had first built the temple in 965BC but it was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar in 586BC.  A smaller temple was begun in 516BC.  In 19BC Herod the Great commenced expanding this temple, which was completed in 63AD.  Jesus said "I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another;  every one will be thrown down".   Seventy years after the temple was completed, this prediction came to pass.?

WHY BLOG ON THIS SUBJECT?

The second of four objectives of my blog is "To Share Wisdom".  I would venture to say that you will never meet another person who has experienced the remoteness of Papua, New Guinea.Maybe I alone can tell you that the gospel has been preached there, years ago.

How will this effect your life?  My friend, that is your decision.

Like Fox News, I report, you decide.
