AMERICA, THE BEAUTIFUL: America, The Resilient!

YOUR PERSONAL GPS
You might find your life's destination better if you remember
THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO BE WEAK OR TIMID
BECAUSE THE CHALLENGE IS FORMIDABLE - Wenda Weekes Moore

RESILIENCE IS ACCEPTING YOUR NEW REALITY,
EVEN IF IT'S LESS GOOD - Elizabeth Edwards

A violent crime spree continues across the Greater Boston area that has now claimed the lives of a campus policeman and one of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings. Happiness is not the absence of problems but the ability to deal with them.  Americans are resilient.  Boston will survive.

LIFE ONLY DEMANDS FROM YOU THE STRENGTH YOU POSSESS
Dag Hammarskjold

The Massachusetts Puritans were attacked by Indians on the 10th of March, 1676.  Three days later the attack was repeated.  Homes and churches were burned, the settlers killed.  The Indians are gone, Boston survived.

A hundred years later, on April 19, 1775,  the British laid an eleven month siege of Boston.  The British are gone, Boston survived.

UNTIL ALL OF US HAS MADE IT, NONE OF US HAS MADE IT
Rosemary Brown

Now, Boston is bombed by two Chechnya students, who have enjoyed the blessings of America.  I do not know what these men learned in college, but they learned little about American resilience.  Boston will survive.

I HAVEN'T FAILED, I'VE LEARNED 10,000 WAYS THAT DOESN'T WORK
Thomas Edison

When an American says he loves his country, he means not only that he loves New England hills, the prairies glistening in the sun, the wide and rising plains, the great mountains, and the sea.  He means that he loves the inner air, an inner light where freedom lives and in which a man can draw the breath of self respect.  Adlai Stevenson

THE BEND IN THE ROAD IS NOT THE END OF THE ROAD
UNLESS YOU REFUSE TO TAKE THE TURN

The Chechnya Republic is in Southwestern Russia.  This Muslim country has been involved in bitter conflict that has devastated the republic forcing the mass exodus of refugees.  America has once again welcomed those who have been beat down in their own country.  Sadly, these two men only brought their bitterness with them.  Resilience is the ability to resume shape or position after being subjected to stress, the ability to recover from emotional shock.  Boston will be resilient.  These two Chechnians will soon be gone, Boston will survive.

MY GOD!  HOW LITTLE DO MY COUNTRYMEN KNOW WHAT
PRECIOUS BLESSINGS THEY ARE IN POSSESSION OF,
AND WHICH NO OTHER PEOPLE ON EARTH ENJOY
Thomas Jefferson

It is important to remember that freedom is not free.  At this very moment, American men and women are on station around the world, on the land, in the air, in and under the seas protecting our freedom.  Some will pay the supreme price for their service to their country.  Pray for them!  When you meet them, acknowledge your appreciation.

AND, I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN,
WHERE AT LEAST I KNOW I'M FREE
AND I WON'T FORGET THE MEN WHO DIED,
WHO GAVE THAT RIGHT TO ME
Lee Greenwood

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR'S

GOD BLESS THE USA

MAY GOD SUSTAIN OUR FELLOW COUNTRYMEN IN BOSTON
