DO A GOOD DEED DAILY: Todd Following This Advice For His Dad

WALT ON TERRA TRIKE
I have a Terra Trike Tour, a great trike designed for long distance touring.  I have not been able to ride it for the last three years.  I rode it across the California deserts, came home, had a medical reaction to a medication resulting in a heart attack, then had a total replacement of my left hip. Now I am ready to tour again.  I took the trike to my son Todd's and he worked his bike magic on it.

It was a long drive to Cincinnati but Todd did what I could not hire done.

I don't know why but I always have trouble finding Todd's home.  He has owned this home for years and I've been there many times but I always get lost.  You just get off I71 South at the King's Island amusement park and wind around for about five miles and you're there.  It's the winding around that gets to me.  His address is right on the wall of his garage - ROCK AND ROLL BLVD!  Todd listens to music on two giant speakers fit for his address.

Todd has every tool.  Like everything in Todd's personal life, they are in perfect order.  His entire home is like that.  The work bench you see here, he built it with rollers so that he can roll it right up to his job, which he did when he worked on my trike.  The tool that is his pride and joy, however, is a bike work stand that his wife, Amy, gave him for his birthday.  It holds a bike at any height and any angle.  What a tool.

Among the many maintenance items, like cleaning and lubing my chain, Todd also made a major improvement in the design of the trike's rear fender support.  He also made the two front fenders more firm.  He showed me how to dry wax the chain instead of greasing it to improve it's performance and not get everything smudged with grease.  Would you believe he actually washed the trike when he was finished?  Yep, he did!

Todd has 21,037 miles on his RANS ROCKET recumbent bike.  He told me that the GAP bike trail, the GREAT ALLEGHENY PASSAGE, from Washington, DC to Pittsburg, Pa is the most beautiful of all the cross state rides he has made.  The trail, which is rails to trails, is almost flat, actually slightly downhill for 150 miles.  He offered to ride this trail again with me this summer.  Did I ever say "YES" quickly!

 Good times a'comin'.
