THE CHANGING TIMES: Ever And Always!

Wisdom   Wisdom   Wisdom   Wisdom   Wisdom   Wisdom   Wisdom   Wisdom

YOUR PERSONAL GPS
You might find your life's destination better if you remember
IT IS NOT THE STRONGEST OF THE SPECIES THAT SURVIVE, NOR THE MOST INTELLIGENT, BUT THE ONE MOST RESPONSIVE TO CHANGE

WE MUST ADJUST TO THE CHANGING TIMES
AND STILL HOLD ONTO OUR UNCHANGING PRINCIPLES - Jimmy Carter

THE WHEEL OF CHANGE MOVES ON, AND THOSE WHO WERE DOWN
GO UP AND THOSE WHO WERE UP GO DOWN - Jawaharlal Nehru

As the Native Americans viewed the newly built railroads with wonder in the mid 1800's, they looked upon the white men who built them with disdain.  The red man was so numerous and strong while the white pioneers in their small wagon trains were so weak and vulnerable.

Change came.  The white men came and came and came. Today the red men are no longer the free spirits they once were but live wretched lives on reservations.

THE BAMBOO THAT BENDS IS STRONGER
THAN THE OAK THAT RESISTS - Japanese Proverb

It was a new century, the 1900's!  Could things ever be better in America?  The chaotic years after the American Civil War were over.  Optimistically, America looked forward to a century of growth and expansion.....and peace.    None could know that the 20th century would be fraught with wars that would bring anguish to the people.
"Tote that bale, heave that barge and old man river, lazy old man river, he'll just keep rolling, keep on rolling along".

IF YOU'RE IN A BAD SITUATION, DON'T WORRY, IT'LL CHANGE
IF YOU'RE IN A GOOD SITUATION, DON'T WORRY, IT'LL CHANGE
John A. Simone

The Japanese Samurai represented the world's greatest fighting men throughout the centuries.  Little Japan defeated the great bear, Russia.  During the 1930's the Japanese armies conquered the Far East.  Ignoring the agreements made following World War I, the Japanese built a mighty naval power.  When America denied them steel and oil, necessary war materials, the Japanese retaliated with the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.

THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RUT AND A GRAVE
ARE THEIR DIMENSIONS - Ellen Glasgow

In three short years, filled with death, destruction and heart break for all, the Japanese forces were in a full retreat, a valorous rout but a rout none-the-less.  Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamomoto's statement on the attack of Pearl Harbor, "I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve" proved to be true.  In the picture on the right a Japanese plane is downed at the Battle of Saipan in 1944.  From here America bombers dropped atomic bombs killing approximately 166,000 in Hiroshima and 80,000 in Nagasaki.  The war ended but the world was changed forever.

IT'S HARD TO GET USED TO THE CHANGING TIMES.
I REMEMBER WHEN THE AIR WAS CLEAN AND SEX WAS DIRTY
George F. Burns

In this rare picture of Winston Churchill, we see a man that life prepared for war.  The grandson of the 7th Duke of Marlborough, the son of Lord Randolph Churchill and Jeannie Jerome, an American socialite, Churchill saw action as a young Army officer in British India, the Sudan, the Second Boer War and was the  Commander of the 6th Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers.  He became the English Prime Minister in the war torn year of 1940.

Change would find the right man for the right job.

IF YOU WANT TO MAKE ENEMIES, TRY TO CHANGE SOMETHING
Woodrow Wilson

In 1940 the sky over Big Ben was streaked in the Air Battle of London.  The smaller, slower and less efficient Spitfire fighters of the Royal Air Force gallantly defended their homeland.   The Nazi's were overpowering with wave after wave of bombers that could not be deterred.  All of Europe had fallen to the Nazi juggernaut.  England stood alone but steadfastly refused to consider defeat, surrender or to make a compromised peace.  With America's help, change came.  Berlin was destroyed, London was bloodied but survived.

14 YEAR OLD OSAMA BIN LADEN, 2ND FROM RIGHT, BECAME A TERRIOST

HILLARY CLINTON, SEEN HERE IN 1975
BECAME A FIRST LADY, A SECRETARY OF STATE
AND, PERHAPS IN 2016, THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

God, grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change,
the courage to change the one that I can,
and the wisdom to know it's me.

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR'S

GOD BLESS THE USA
