GROWING OLD:  Not For Sissies!

Wisdom    Wisdom    Wisdom    Wisdom    Wisdom    Wisdom    Wisdom

               YOUR PERSONAL GPS
You just might reach your life's destination better if you remember
OLD AGE IS NOT LOST YOUTH BUT A NEW STAGE OF OPPORTUNITY

OLD AGE IS LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE.  TO MAKE A SUCCESS OF IT, YOU'VE
GOT TO START YOUNG - Teddy Roosevelt

Bo Derek, born Mary Cathleen Collins in Long Beach, California in 1956, has been a model, actress and a movie producer.  She is , perhaps, best known as a sex symbol in the romantic comedy film "10".  She recently opined that Betty Davis was right when she said that "Growing old wasn't for Sissies".

Check out how she looks today at age 59.  She is still a beautiful woman.  She starred in 18 movies and 16 television series.  She sure doesn't look like a sissy, does she?

OLD AGE ISN'T SO BAD IF YOU CONSIDER THE ALTERNATIVE - M. Chevalier

I am made to think of birthdays because of my oldest son's birthday next week.  He is a year younger than Bo Derek.  I enjoy being a part of Mark's birthday celebration, baking him his favorite cherry pie.

Mark is still hale and hearty, being very active as a pastor.  He rode his bike twenty miles one day last week.  He enjoys his eight grandchildren as much I enjoyed my nine, and that's saying something.

THE EXCITEMENT OF LEARNING SEPARATES YOUTH FROM OLD AGE.
AS LONG AS YOU'RE LEARNING YOU'RE NOT OLD - Rosalyn S. Yalow

Mark, Kimberly, Walt and Todd
I am blessed to have three of the greatest children a man could have.  My daughter Kimberly hosted the entire family, along with many friends, on both my 70 and 80th birthdays.  Can't wait to turn 90!
Kimberly lives near by and I see her frequently.  Mark lives near the lake side retreat where I spend summers and I see him often then.  Todd texts from Cincinnatti.

MAN IS LIKE WINE - SOME TURN TO VINEGAR, BUT THE BEST IMPROVE WITH AGE

I have never fully recovered from having my left hip replaced three years ago.  I just recently gave up walking with a cane.  I no longer have the pain of bone rubbing against bone as I did before the operation.  I have just not been quite stable.  Some things are beyond my control.  Regardless, I find that my choices in life are always better if made with a positive attitude.  Happiness and positive attitudes seem to go together.  Old age is also better when fully lived.

I DON'T FEEL OLD!  IN FACT, I DON'T FEEL ANYTHING UNTIL NOON.
THAT'S WHEN I TAKE MY NAP - Bob Hope

Sixty-seven days from now, the good Lord willing and Lake Erie doesn't rise too much, I hope to commence an eight month cruise around the eastern USA.  This picture is of an O'Day Mariner like mine except sailing the Great Loop I'll remove the mast and sails and just motor.

I STILL HAVE A FULL DECK.  I JUST SHUFFLE SLOWER NOW

MAY GOD BLESS MARK ON HIS BIRTHDAY

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AS YOU GROW OLD

GOD BLESS THE USA
