WHAT MAKES A RIVER SO RESTFUL TO PEOPLE IS THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY DOUBT--IT IS SURE WHERE IT IS GOING, AND IT DOESN'T WANT TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE - Hal Boyle
TRUE MERIT, LIKE A RIVER, THE DEEPER IT IS, THE LESS NOISE IT MAKES
LOVE IS THE RIVER OF LIFE IN THE WORLD - Henry Ward Beecher
To people born and raised on the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers, the river is in their blood. Even the West Virginia state capitol is built on the banks of the Kanawha River.
My life's earliest memories are memories of the river. It provided our food from trot lines my Mother ran. After a morning of berry picking, we washed off the sweat and chiggers in the river.
We didn't have a car when I was a youngster, but we always had a john boat--which, like swimming, I can never recall learning to row, I just could. When deeply troubled to this day, I return to sit by the river and ponder.
THE ACTIVIST IS NOT THE MAN WHO SAYS THE RIVER IS DIRTY, THE ACTIVIST IS THE MAN WHO CLEANS UP THE RIVER - Ross Perot
I see in my home town newspaper that the BELLE OF CINCINNATI will be in town this week. It is an old stern wheel steam boat. Originally a Mississippi casino boat named the EMERALD LADY, it now has four decks, four dining rooms, a dance floor, an outdoor deck and can accommodate a thousand people.
IF MY SHIP SAILS FROM SIGHT, IT DOES NOT MEAN MY JOURNEY ENDS, IT SIMPLY MEANS THE RIVER BENDS - Cordell Hull

In 1963, as part of the Kentucky Derby Festival, a river race was held between the DELTA QUEEN and the BELLE OF LOUISVILLE. Although different ships participate today, that race continues each year the Wednesday before the Kentucky Derby.
The stern waves from these stern wheel boats was awesome. As a child we used to try to swim out into the river and catch the first wave.
IF ONE MORNING I WALKED ACROSS THE TOP OF THE POTOMAC RIVER, THE HEADLINES WOULD READ THE NEXT DAY "THE PRESIDENT CAN'T SWIM" - Lyndon B. Johnson
In Marietta, Ohio, The BECKY THATCHER SHOW BOAT was a wonderful event we enjoyed. A dinner and old time vaudeville show, with all the "boos" and "hisses" of yester year. Sadly, she sank in 2010 and was a total loss. In my childhood show boats were quite common on the rivers.
HOPPING THE FENCE OR WADING THE RIO GRANDE RIVER IS NOT PART OF AMERICA'S IMMIGRATION PROCESS - Ted Nugent
Although my family and friends are used to my adventures in life, I suspect they consider my plans to sail the loop around the eastern United States to be a bit far out. To me, however, it seems no more out of place than the kids coming back to little Norton High School for a homecoming football game. It is just a part of who I am.
NEVER INSULT AN ALLIGATOR UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE CROSSED THE RIVER - Cordell Hull

I agree, your plans to sail The Loop are just who you are! If you didn't plan on adventures, your family should be worried!
