WE ALL FACE STORMS IN LIFE.  SOME ARE MORE DIFFICULT THAN OTHERS, BUT WE ALL GO THROUGH TRIALS AND TRIBULATION.  THAT'S WHY WE HAVE FAITH - Joyce Meyer

IF YOU SPEND YOUR WHOLE LIFE WAITING FOR THE STORM, YOU'LL NEVER ENJOY THE SUNSHINE - Morris West

There is a real "thunder boomer" going on outside.  But, I don't mind, I love thunderstorms.  This one has lowered the temperature from near 90 down to 71.  It also broke large limbs from the large maple tree in front of our house which the city had to remove.  Also, we really needed the rain, the lawns are all burned out.

VOWS MADE IN STORMS ARE FORGOTTEN IN CALM - Thomas Fuller

Sustained winds of 74 MPH is either a hurricane or a typhoon, one in the Atlantic the other in the far Pacific.  Julie and I weathered a hurricane passing 50 miles off shore in our Myrtle Beach condo.  It flooded the parking lots miles inland.  The storm hit shore just north of us in North Carolina.  The day after the storm passed was beautiful.

LIFE ISN'T ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORM TO PASS, LIFE IS ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN - Claudia Carroll (A Favorite Saying of Mine)

MYRTLE BEACH AFTER HURRICANE IVAN
We went to Myrtle Beach a week after Hurricane Ivan hit there.  Nearly every beach front condo was destroyed, thankfully not ours.  Most houses built near the beach are on stilts and weathered the storm pretty good.  Houses on the ground were all destroyed.  Our only hurricane in 25 years.

'TIS THE SET OF THE SAILS AND NOT THE GALES THAT DETERMINES THE GOALS - Ella Wilson

As the radioman aboard the USS YUMA ATF94, I had experienced rescue work following three typhoons.  But, sailing from Japan to the Philippines, we sailed right through a typhoon in the East China Sea.  It took every inch of paint off the ship.  It bent the outside ladders into a bow, destroyed the life boats and opened the steel gun tubs like sardine cans.

ONLY ONE THING THAT YOU CAN SEE AND HEAR THAT IS BEAUTIFUL AND FRIGHTENING AT THE SAME TIME, AND THAT IS A THUNDER STORM - R. K. Cowles

CRUISER USS SANTA FE IN TYPHOON
On October 4, 1944, during the Battle of Okinawa, a storm started at Rota and by the time it got to Okinawa, it was Super Typhoon Louise with sustained winds exceeding 120 MPH.  Twelve ships, including two destroyers, were sunk.  There were 222 ships beached, with 120 in a tangled mess.  Thirty-two ships were damaged beyond repair.  (I have been to Rota, just north of Guam).

THE TROUBLE WITH WEATHER FORECASTING IS THAT IT IS RIGHT TOO OFTEN FOR US TO IGNORE AND WRONG TOO OFTEN FOR US TO DEPEND ON IT - P.Young

Atlantic hurricane weather runs from June through November.  The strongest hurricane so far in 2015 was hurricane Danny.  In 2004, there was a record of four category 5 hurricanes, Charley, Francis, Ivan and Karl.  We can only hope for the best when we lease our condo a year in advance.  So far we have been lucky.

I guess without the storms, we wouldn't appreciate the sunny weather, both literally and figuratively. I know one thing, I hate thunderstorms. I need one of those special jackets they make for dogs who are afraid of storms! haha!
