THE 26th YEAR AT MYRTLE BEACH: Family And Food

THE GOOD LIFE   THE GOOD LIFE   THE GOOD LIFE   THE GOOD LIFE

SOME PEOPLE ASK THE SECRET OF OUR LONG MARRIAGE.  WE TAKE TIME TO GO TO A RESTAURANT TWO TIMES A WEEK.  A LITTLE CANDLE LIGHT, DINNER, SOFT MUSIC, DANCING - SHE GOES ON TUESDAYS, I GO ON THURSDAYS.

THE OTHER NIGHT I WENT TO A REAL NICE FAMILY RESTAURANT.  EVERY TABLE HAD AN ARGUMENT GOING  - George Carlin

MARK AND MARY KAY, WEST VIEW
My son, Mark,  and his wife, Mary Kay, seen here at a  west view from of our beach front condo, has been our most frequent guest in our 26 years of spending the month of October at the beach.   Our leased penthouse suite just south of Myrtle Beach. SC requires a key to get to our 16th floor.  This is their 18th year of sharing with my wife, Julie, and I.
Mark is Pastor of  Church Requel in Mansfield, Ohio.   Mary Kay, a 4 year graduate from the University of Akron School of Nursing, is Director of the National Association of the Mentally Ill.  Whether it is going to a new restaurant or playing cards, they always Let The Good Times Roll.

FAMILY IS NOT AN IMPORTANT THING, IT IS THE ONLY THING - Desmond Tutu

GRANDDAUGHTER JILLIAN
GREAT GRANDSON TITUS
My granddaughter, Jill, is getting her 9-month-old son, Titus, off to a good start at Grandpa's beach house.  She is showing him the grandeur of the beach.  Hurricane Joaquin had passed a couple days ago but that's in the past.  Now it is sunny skies and a peaceful surf.  During the hurricane we hunkered down in the constant down pour of rain and surf that actually came up over the deck of the condo.  The elevator would not go to the lower floor.

IN A RESTAURANT, CHOOSE A TABLE NEAR A WAITER - Jewish Proverb

WALT AND JESSI
You can't "Let The Good Times Roll" without tripping the light fantastic, can you?  Nah!  Here I am dancing with my Grand Daughter, Jessica.  Jessi has visited us at the beach since she was a child.  Now, she is a Respiratory Therapist keeping premmie babies alive.  How important is that?  She has visited us for a week for the last three years.  She is a great guest as she always shares in the costs involved in a month long party.  Even more important, she is ready to go to shows, play cards or play with her young nephew, whatever.  When she left I reminded her that we'd be looking for her back in eleven months.

WHEN YOU GO TO A RESTAURANT, THE LESS YOU KNOW ABOUT WHAT GOES ON IN THE KITCHEN THE MORE YOU WILL ENJOY YOUR FOOD - Jeffery Wright

DAVE
No, No!  We are not always on the go, shopping or cooking.  We don't go to shows or the beach all the time.  From doing those things, however, one needs a bit of rest.  Makes sense, huh?  Here we see Dave, Jessi's husband giving up reading his kindle and taking a snooze.  Dave is hard working and just a good guy!  He plays a bass guitar and is a whiz electronically, something the entire family appreciates.  He is also a sports nut, which means he fits right in with the Pierce family.  Julie and Mark both brought a zero gravity chair but they became a first come first use thing.  This time Dave was first in line.  Looks like he needed it.   We all get rest at the beach, me more than anyone else, I guess.

A CANNIBAL IS A PERSON WHO GOES INTO A RESTAURANT AND ORDERS A WAITER - P. Wodehouse

ROSEBUD AND TITUS
This is a picture of my youngest grand child and youngest great grand child.  Delaney Rose Pierce Boggs, "Rosebud", now 14 , flew  from Cleveland, Ohio to Myrtle Beach by herself, which cost her parents a double airline fare.  She and her Nana Julie are special "Buds".  They follow the same TV shows and go to movies together.   They have dinner together about once a week.  Here "Rosebud" is taking her turn caring for the little one.

TO US, FAMILY MEANS PUTTING YOUR ARMS AROUND EACH OTHER AND BEING THERE - Barbara Bush

LOBSTER DINNER
There may be more restaurants in Myrtle Beach than any where else on planet Earth.  This is a lobster platter that Julie enjoyed when Mark and Mary Kay treated us to dinner.  Previously, we took them to their favorite restaurant for Mark's Christmas present.   He had to wait for ten months but didn't mind.

THE LOVE OF FAMILY AND THE ADMIRATION OF FRIENDS IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN WEALTH AND PRIVILEGE - Charles Kuralt
